CRI听力:Solar Plane Lands in California after Crossing Pacific

The world's largest solar powered airplane, the Solar Impulse 2, has landed in California to complete its three-day flight across the Pacific.

The plane had to fly in a holding pattern off the San Francisco coast on 70-percent stored energy while waiting for winds to die down before it could make its planned landing at an airfield in Mountain View.

While it waited, the aircraft performed a fly-by over the Golden Gate Bridge, which followed 56-straight-hours of straight flying that began on Thursday morning in Hawaii.

The aircraft started its around-the-world journey from Abu Dhabi in March last year and made stops in Oman, Myanmar, China and Japan.

After a stint in California, the plane will make its way across the United States and Southern Europe before making it back to its original starting point in the UAE.
