The Chinese authorities have announce a plan for speeding up the development of the artificial intelligence sector.
The move reportedly aims to create a market worth more than 100 billion yuan, or 15 billion US dollars over the next three years.
Unveiling details of the plan, the China National Development and Reform Commission said the three-year implementation program would see the building of platforms for fundamental AI resources and innovation and make breakthroughs in basic core technology.
The plan was formulated jointly by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Cyberspace Administration of China.
For more on the development of AI and its impact on the economy, CRI's Shane Bigham earlier spoke with John Ross, senior fellow with the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University.
