2016-06-17来源:CRI

This year marks the 10th Summer Davos in China. Alternating each year between Tianjin and Dalian, this year's meeting will be hosted in Tianjin.

The theme of the meeting is, The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Its Transformational Impact.

The concept of Industry 4.0, or the fourth industrial revolution, embraces automation, data exchange and new manufacturing technologies. It includes the Internet of Things and the Internet of Services.

David Aikman, chief representative officer for Greater China, World Economic Forum, forsees a massive change in industry and production.

He believes understanding the opportunities that come with new technological breakthroughs, plus re-thinking of our rules and values, could ensure the decisions we take benefit the global good.

"While we don't known in detail how the fourth industrial revolution will unfold, the exponential velocity, scope, and systems impact of the changes, require that we involve all stakeholders of society, from the public and private sectors, to academia and civil society, do discuss and shape the course of this incredible transformation."

Preparations for the meeting are in their final stages.

Liang Linchong, with the International Cooperation Department of China's National Development and Reform Commission, says this year's meeting is expected to attract both public and private sector leaders.

"As of June 12, we have received some 1700 registration, from 90 or more countries. 60 percent of them are from outside China. This year's meeting will also feature political leaders from outside China and those who run international organizations. Chinese leaders at ministerial level will also participate in discussions."

This year's meeting will also consider the idea of reshaping growth – How China's new Five-Year Plan for socio-economic development and rethinking Innovation will play out – and how technology and business models shape social and economic systems.

Talking about the impact of the annual Summer Davos on the Chinese economy, Zhao Haishan, Vice-Mayor of Tianjin says it's an important platform to introduce China to the world and let the world see how Chinese economy really is.

"On new emerging economy and new opportunities, and reaching out to the world, the Summer Davos has helped us to understand world trends. Through the event the outside world comes to know more about Tianjin, and China, and its industrial development and the progress China has made in transforming and upgrading its industrial sectors."

Altogether, more than 200 meetings will be held during the three day forum, from June 26 to 28. For CRI, I'm Min Rui.
