CRI听力:Chinese Children Actors to Perform in the US in October
The US Missoula Children's Theatre, with its local young American actors, has recently performed a drama on Chinese idiom stories in Beijing. They would conduct regular exchanges with the China National Theatre for Children.
Joseph Martinez is the artistic director with the US Missoula Children's Theatre.
In October, ten kids that were in Princess and the Pea last summer, here, in town, are going to come to Missoula and perform Princess and the Pea on our stage in English again, like they did it here last year. So it's very exciting that we have this culture exchange, we brought these boys over again and again, you know, that we are still be able to combine the culture and perform together and learn about each other. That was the most important, to be able to learn about your culture, and you learn about our cultures.
The American actors' show of 'Box of Idioms' on the stage of China National Theatre for Children last weekend has won lots of applause, making it one of the most endearing moments of an ongoing China Children's Theatre Festival.
The Princess and The Pea is part of the US Missoula Children's Theatre's unique international touring project. At last year's festival, children performers from a local art school and four primary schools in Beijing performed the Princess and The Pea under the guidance from two American directors sent by the Missoula Children's Theatre.
Both the Princess and the Pea and 'Box of Idioms', which are co-presented and produced by the Missoula Children's Theatre and China National Theatre for Children, witness the increasing China-US cultural exchanges. They have been included in a list of achievements of the 7th Round of China-US high-level consultation on people-to-people cultural exchange.
The China Children's Theatre Festival has successfully held five sessions since 2011. It aims to promote the development of world children drama and strengthen international exchanges and cooperation. This year's festival will run until August 25th.
