CRI听力:Woman mauled to death in wildlife park
China Central Television aired footage that shows a young woman being attacked by a Siberian tiger after she left her car in a wildlife park in Beijing Saturday, thepaper.cn reports.
The video also captured a man and a senior woman getting out of the car to pursue the big cat that was dragging the girl away.
The young woman was seriously injured and the senior woman was attacked by another tiger and died at the scene, which the video did not capture.
The Beijing News has confirmed that the man and the senior woman are the young woman's husband and mother.
A family member of the injured said the senior woman got out of the car to save her daughter.
The young woman, who suffered wounds, multiple spinal fractures, and a pierced jaw bone, is currently out of danger.
Rumors said the young woman got out of the car demonstratively during an argument with her husband.
But her family members deny any disagreements between the couple, saying the woman got out of the car because she was unaware they were still in a predator inhabited area.
Beijing Daily reports that a patrol car spotted the young woman getting out of the car, in violation of park rules and sounded a horn to warn her danger, but apparently too late.
Wang Shuqin, deputy director of the landscaping bureau in Yanqing District, said tourists traveling with their own vehicles must sign an agreement with the park, which forbids them from leaving their cars.
"Vehicles entering the park must follow the regulations. The car doors and windows have to be locked when in the beasts of prey area.
Feeding the animals or getting out of vehicles is not allowed. These are regulations printed on the agreement."
An investigation has begun and the zoo has been temporarily closed.
The wildlife park, called Badaling Wildlife World, covers an area of 400 hectares and has about 10,000 wild animals.
At least four incidents of people hurt by animals in the park were reported in the past decade.
