CRI听力:Chinese Premier welcomes Aung San Suu Kyi
"I'm glad to meet with Myanmar's State Councilor. Welcome to China. This is your first visit to a non-ASEAN country after taking office. It just shows the great importance the Myanmar government, and you attach to our bilateral relations. We appreciate that."
Li also calls on both sides to respect their traditional friendship and promote relations to a new level.
For her part, Aung San Suu Kyi expects the visit to further promote ties between the two nations.
"First, I would like to thank you for the warm welcome. We have felt the delicate care from China since we first set foot in your country. It indicates the high attention China pays to developing bilateral relations. Currently the world is experiencing deep and complicated change. We hope the two countries can further consolidate and develop ties."
As part of her visit, the two sides are expected to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in various areas.
China is Myanmar's largest trading partner, as well as the biggest source of foreign investment in the country.
Trade with China currently accounts for about one-third of Myanmar's total annual trade volume.
Around 40 percent of all foreign investments in Myanmar so far this year have come from China.
For more on Aung San Suu Kyi's China visit, my colleagues Zheng Chenguang and Nick Lanigan spoke to Teng Jianqun, Senior Researcher at the China Institute of International Studies.
