Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina says she believes Xi Jinping's trip to Dhaka is going to bring opportunities for growth to the south Asian country.

"After 30 years, Chinese President is visiting Bangladesh. It has been a critical historical moment to our people who have been waiting for and welcome the (Chinese) President, and also it will open a new door for the cooperation between our two country, it will enhance our friendship and cooperation, which is very important. And also Bangladesh is opening its doors for foreign investment, so definitely we welcome Chinese investors in Bangladesh."

"I think that the reinforcing of what I call this whole initiative of countries of the South coming together to lay apart for the future. And I'm sure that we will hear a reiteration of that commitment, look at the successes that countries of the South have achieved, and build a much stronger and interconnected BRICS, infrastructure and architecture as we go along in terms of economic, work, cooperation and development."

Some BRICS members have experienced negative economic growth, as well as growth being slowed in traditionally robust economies such as China and India.

The president says the bank helps boost the economic recovery and reinforce the initiatives of the five BRICS countries.

"The New Development Bank is really built for the future as the BRICS countries and hopefully in course of time other countries, and go through these developmental needs. At this point in time, our belief is that some of our members could be impacted by a commodity cycle, which is going to be short-lived, as strong growth. And I am sure a growth will be strong on a larger base in China and growth will be strong on a slightly smaller base in India, and indeed, in all other member countries."

New Development Bank or NDB, once named "the BRICS Development Bank", is a multilateral development bank founded by the five BRICS countries.

Zhu Xian, the vice president of NDB says, the bank has achieved impressive results in green energy, innovation and better use of currency markets.

And it is now devoted to helping in innovations, especially to make breakthroughs in technology which is widely believed to be a huge potential growth engine.

"We need to see the opportunities, even for these five BRICS countries where they have and group potential. And for the innovations, for the technology and to the breakthrough, these things, and unlike the existing model of NDB's, we want to try to help particularly on innovations."

He also appealed to the governments, the business community and the private sector to work together to put new resources for growth in place for the benefit of the bank and the member countries.
