The Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect, the second link between the mainland and Hong Kong bourses, was launched on Monday.
The move is expected to widen access to China's markets for global investors.
Ceremonies attended by senior officials from the mainland and Hong Kong were held simultaneously at the Shenzhen and Hong Kong bourses via a video link.
