CRI听力:Apple inks first wind power deal in China
It's being reported there may be a retail component to Apple's latest investment in wind power in China.
Apple announced last week that it's partnering with Chinese wind turbine maker Goldwind on a number of wind farm projects in Henan, Shandong, Shanxi and Yunnan.
The tech giant has purchased a 30-percent stake in four different Goldwind subsidiuaries which are running the various projects.
It was originally thought the power produced by the projects would be directed exclusively to Apple's manufacturing centers as part of the company's larger goal of making itself carbon-neutral in China.
However, reports now suggest Apple and Goldwind are looking at the possibility of selling-off some of its energy to other firms.
Apple has been working on a pledge to make its supply chain in China powered exclusively by renewable energy.
For more on this we're joined on the line by Mike Bastin, Director of the China Business Center at Southampton Solent University in London.
