China has been replaced by Japan for the first time as the second largest holder of US treasuries in October, as China's holdings dropped to the lowest level since June 2010.
China cut its treasuries holding by 41.3 billion U.S. dollars in October, with the total holdings down to 1.12 trillion dollars.
This marks the sixth month that China has cut its holdings of US treasuries.
Japan also shed its treasuries holdings by a smaller amount - 4.5 billion dollars to 1.13 trillion dollars.
By the end of October, overall foreign holdings of US Treasury debt fell to 6.04 trillion dollars from September's 6.15 trillion dollars.
