CRI听力:Chinese heavy equipment takes center stage at major industry event in Vegas

2017-03-10来源:CRI

Chinese heavy equipment marketed for the United States is being featured at a major construction expo currently underway in Las Vegas.

The CONEXPO, which is held in the United States every three years, is a major international trade show for an industry which currently produces around 160 billion U.S. dollars globally.

Industry analysis is suggesting that the figure is going to double by 2021.

Around 130,000 construction and heavy-industry representatives are attending this year's sessions in Vegas, with Chinese companies gaining a spotlight at this year's event.

China's Ministry of Commerce has put on a display as part of the expo, gathering over 100 local media outlets and construction professionals to discuss the advancements being made in China in the construction and heavy-industry equipment sector.

Among the Chinese companies pitching their products in Las Vegas are Sany, Zoomlion and the Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG).

Wang Min, Chairman of XCMG, said entry to the global market will be doomed without products of high quality and advanced technology.

"The biggest requirement of China's supply-side structural reform is to produce products of high quality. If we still rely on an expansion of quantity to drive the growth, then we are doomed. We cannot enter the global market without products of high quality and advanced technology," said Wang.

China has been in a state of continual construction and production since the reform and opening up program first started taking hold in the early 1980s.

This has allowed Chinese equipment makers to make significant advancements, as well as a name for themselves on the global stage.

Last year Sany Heavy Industries produced 170,000 excavators, more than any other producer in the world.

XCMG is now a world leader in compaction equipment, and Zoomlion is a household name in the field of high-tower cranes.

As Chinese equipment producers have received increasing acceptance and orders in the United States and the rest of the world, XCMG decided to set up an assembly line in Las Vegas at the invitation of a local distributor, and Sany aims to enhance their after-sale services across the globe.

"Next, we have decided to make more efforts on marketing, service and agent networks," said Zhou Wanchun, Senior Vice President of Sany Heavy Industry.

Among the displays, loaders from Sweden's Huddig have showed off their dexterity by pouring beer and stacking beer bottles.

This year's CONEXPO will run until Sunday.
