CRI听力:Alibaba reportedly to build its own brick-and-mortar mall
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is reportedly building its own brick-and-mortar mall in Hangzhou, where Alibaba's headquarters are located.
The 5-story shopping center, called "More Mall," is being built on a 40,000-sqaure-meter plot of land, and is scheduled to open in April.
The move is reportedly part of Alibaba's "new retail" strategy to blend online, offline, logistics and data units across a single value chain.
Under the initiative, the e-commerce giant is moving fast into offline spaces to help remake traditional retailing.
For more on the issue, the Beijing Hour's Shane Bigham spoke earlier with Doug Young, company news chief with the English edition of Caixin.
