CRI听力:Chinese-backed invest firm set to purchase UK chip designer
Chinese-backed investment firm Canyon Bridge is reportedly set to buy UK technology firm Imagination.
This came months after the British chip designer put itself up for sale in June, after its largest customer Apple announced it'll stop using its products.
The 550 million pound, or 740 million U.S. dollar deal, is not Canyon Bridge's first deal to purchase a Western tech company.
Canyon Bridge had been seeking approval for a 1.3-billion-U.S.-dollar deal to buy U.S. chipmaker Lattice Semiconductor, but the sale was barred by the Trump administration.
With more on this, the Beijing Hour's Shane Bigham spoke earlier with Mike Bastin, director of China Business Center with Southampton Solent University in the UK.
