Delegates of the 19th CPC National Congress have been discussing the report that Xi Jinping delivered at the opening session. In addition to the roadmap drafted for China's future development, they also pay attention to issues that are closely related to their professions.

About one-third of the delegates to the Congress are frontline workers, with farmers and grassroots officials represented.

Li Lan'nv works for a textile corporation in Jiangsu Province. As a delegate from the manufacturing industry, she says she's impressed by the changing development of traditional industries mentioned in the report.

"The report mentions the upgrading of traditional industries. This is encouraging for us. Actually, we have been trying automation and smart manufacturing in recent years. The spirit of model workers and craftsmanship were other touching points for us. We believe social innovation cannot be separated from the many frontline workers," says Li.

A CPC member for 14 years, Wang Jing is a first-time delegate to the CPC National Congress. She works at the chemistry institute of Henan Academy of Science, researching environmental-friendly products.

"After hearing the report, I have many prospects for the future. My colleagues and I will push more technology into production to better serve society," says Wang.

Many delegates work closely with ordinary people every day. Ren Hongmei is the head of a residential community in a mining area in Shanxi Province. She says what encourages her the most is the core values emphasized in the report.

"I am from a community organization. As a grassroots-level delegate, I will do my best to spread the good values to the residents I serve," says Ren.

For Xiong Shangbing, who heads a village in Chongqing Municipality, improving people's living standards is a major responsibility.

"I can feel the responsibilities on our shoulders. The poverty alleviation work has entered a new era," says Xiong.

The report sets the course for China's future in the years ahead. Delegates will continue deliberating on it in the following days.
