CRI听力:110th anniversary of the birth of Helen Snow
Today marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of Helen Foster Snow, who was an American journalist reported from China on the developing Chinese Civil War, the Korean independence movement and the war of Chinese people's resistance against Japanese agreesion.
Helen Snow arrived in China in 1931 and spent nearly a decade here interviewing, journaling and writing. She and her husband Edgar Snow were the first foreigners giving a full account of the history of the Communist Party of China, and were the first to do exclusive interviews with major Chinese political figures.
Helen Snow was able to interview Mao Zedong and get his support for what was to become the Chinese Industrial Cooperatives and "gung ho" movement.
