Addressing the closing session of the multi-party dialogue, Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi has hailed the meeting's role in helping different parties exchange ideas and enhance mutual understanding.

"Political parties play an indispensible role in promoting understanding among different peoples from different countries. This dialogue among parties aims to provide a platform for different civilizations to communicate."

Former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, who has attended the meeting, says that the meet-up is a platform that gathers different governing ideas with an overall goal of improving people's livelihood and building a better future.

"For me, it's very important to have dialogue. We're here to compare notes. Every country has a different way of operation. But everybody is doing the best they can to make a better life for the people in the country that they represent."

Enhancing mutual understanding among world political parties has become a unified call at the meeting, as many observers suggest the world needs concerted actions against common challenges, such as climate change and poverty.

Marina Sereni is Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies.

"Our political parties, in spite of our differences and despite our different political systems, must also be engaged in becoming global actors by looking beyond nation horizons. We need to increase our national relations and multiply international opportunities and meetings like this one."

Many delegations have expressed appreciation for China in taking the lead and playing a constructive role in dealing with global challenges.

Yang Jiechi says China seeks common development for its partners.

"Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. The Communist Party of China and the international society need to listen to more ideas from each other than ever before. I hope friends from all other parties and organizations can continue to pay attention to the Communist Party of China and support us, offering suggestions on our work."

Yang Jiechi has also echoed Chinese President Xi Jinping's proposal to make the meeting a high-level dialogue with broader representation and global influence.

Based on the broad consensus reached during the dialogue, "The Beijing Initiative"- a set of guidelines to further promote inter-party cooperation has been adopted.
