CRI听力:Chinese expert: Australia needs self-reflection
Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific Concetta Fierravanti-Wells has accused China of lending funds to Pacific nations on unfavourable terms and constructing "useless buildings" and "roads to nowhere" in the region.
The comments angered South Pacific Islands whose leaders strongly rebuked the criticism. The Prime Minister of Samoa, which is also a member of the Commonwealth of Nations like Australia, says the parliamentarian's harsh wording to China is "insulting" to Pacific island leaders and could "destroy" Australia's relationship with the region
