Chinese pop singer Li Jian contributed his voice to a promotional song "Hometown" for this year's surprise Cannes Palme d'Or winner, Japanese film Shoplifters, which has recently premiered in China.
The singer explains the melody of the song actually came from a classic Japanese ballad.
Earlier, as Shoplifters was screened at the just-concluded Shanghai International Film Festival, tickets sold out within 30 seconds after being made availaible online.
Shoplifters focuses on a loving, unconventional family making ends meet on the margins of Tokyo.
