CRI听力:The International Theatre Live Festival underway in China
Some of the best theatrical content from the international stage can now be enjoyed at Chinese cinemas.
That's thanks to the ongoing International Theatre Live Festival, which aims to introduce famous titles from the U.K. U.S., Russia and France to domestic audiences.
Liu Tianchi, a teacher with the Central Academy of Drama, has been invited to help promote the festival.
"I wish I may promote this festival via various channels, particularly including the medium of the internet. Since it is now an era of Internet, remote participants are enabled to gather in real time for an interesting theatre."
The festival will last till late September in five Chinese cities.
130 screenings have been arranged.
"This year, some primary and middle schools extended invitations that our teachers might help in creating plays, which I think a good trend. It hopefully demonstrates that drama is playing a lot more important part in the modern Chinese society."
The practice of filming a live theatrical performance in high definition and broadcasting it in cinemas is now available in over sixty nations worldwide.
