CRI听力:Renny Harlin's Chinese ancient sword story to hit theatres in Oct
A Chinese action fantasy film "Legend of the Ancient Sword", an adaptation of a hit 3D video game series, will open in cinemas on Oct 1st, the start of China's National Day holiday.
Finnish filmmaker Renny Harlin, who gave us classic 1990's hits such as Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea, and The Long Kiss Goodnight, is the director of this Chinese sword story.
"And I want to assure all the fans of the game and all the fans of Chinese cinema that I'm doing everything I can to take what I've learnt in Hollywood and put it into a Chinese movie and make it a truly Chinese movie."
Leehom Wang leads the cast in a story about a warrior who ventures away from home attempting to stop an evil priest from destroying the world. In a recent interview, Wang disclosed what aroused his interest in the script.
"It is an innovative film script. In the settings of a Wuxia or 'martial heroes' film, where everyone dress in ancient costumes, the story is interestingly filled with the elements of video game and also modern-time funny jokes."
Legend of the Ancient Sword is reportedly serving as an adaptation of the second release in the video game series with ambitious plans already in motion to become a film trilogy on top of a television series.
