CRI听力:The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo comes to China

2019-01-28来源:CRI

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, composed of dance and music by military bands from all over the world, premiered in Beijing over the weekend through a cinema screening project.

Lynsey Fusco is head of Marketing and Communications at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Before the premiere, she said guests from all over the world visit the event, but with the ever evolving digital landscape, a global audience estimated at over 100-million views the tattoo each year.

"So the heritage of the show continues in Edinburgh, but our ambition now to go abroad is very much focused on bringing the show to China in the coming years, but tonight, in the cinema, we are going to see the first-ever broadcast of the Tattoo on Chinese soil and we are so excited about that. But also we know from research that about 23-million Chinese audiences actually know about the Tattoo already. So, in the eventuality that they're not able to make it to Edinburgh, we want to bring the show here and the first step into the market was to broadcast our cinema-showing, and we hope that everybody will enjoy this evening."

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is 69 years old. Their first performance took place in 1950. The tattoo has been sold out for 20 consecutive years.

Today, about half of the Tattoo audience is from the international market.

Beijing ATW Culture is the tattoo's partner, giving support for screening the performances at the festival in Chinese cinemas.
