CRI听力:Chicago Children's Theatre gives a puppet show on Peter Rabbit in Beijing

The Chicago Children's Theatre recently staged a puppet show in Beijing.

A Snowy Day with Beatrix Potter adapts four of the classic British author's beloved tales into puppet shows, including a story about Peter Rabbit.

Will Bishop is the director.

"When we do the show in the States every year, we switched out some of the stories for other ones, so we actually have six total different stories. And we picked four, because we felt like these four would be the easiest to get all the props to China, which is a big thing in our show. But we also think that these stories are the ones that are the characters are the most clear; it's easiest to follow what's going on."

The puppet show starts from The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse, and then The Tailor of Gloucester, The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, and finally ends with Peter Rabbit.

Ray Rehberg wrote and played all the music for the show.

"And I think the most interesting thing about the music is that I play all the music because it's a one-man band. So I have this pedal that allows me to loop sounds, so I can play multi-instruments at the same time, and create layered sounds," he said.

Recommended for children aged two to seven, A Snowy Day with Beatrix Potter had three performers on the stage of the China National Theatre for Children in Beijing over the weekend.

Bishop says he hopes to continue collaboration with the China National Theatre for Children in the future to make their shows more widely available in China.
