Tomislav Nikolic was only elected to the position of parliamentary speaker five days ago. In his short time of speaker, he'd suggested Serbia could become a province of Russia and hinted that a state of emergency could be introduced because of concerns over Kosovo. His resignation followed a two-day special session of the Serbian parliament. Mr. Nikolic’s hardline Serbian Radical Party is the largest group within the assembly.
