Arlington National Cemetery ：One of the two military cemeteries administred by the US army, another is Soilders Home. Arlington National Cemetery was established during the American Civil War in Arlington County, Virginia. Veterans and military casaulties ranging from the American Civil War through to the military actions in Afghanisatn and Iraq are buried there.

D-day & H-hour: Both military terms, used for the day and hour on which a combat attack or operation is to be initiated.

insidious: an insidious danger or problem spreads gradually without being noticed and causing serious harm.

                eg: an insidious trend towards censorship of the press.

root out :to find out where a particular kind of problem exists and get rid of it.

               eg:Racism cannot be rooted out without strong government action.

icasualties.org: an independent website created in May 2003 by Michael White, a software engineer, to track casualties in the Afghanistan War and Iraq War.
