曼德拉迎来92岁大寿

Nelson Mandela's grandchildren and great-grandchildren surrounded him as they sang to celebrate his 92nd birthday.The private party for the former South African president was held in his home in Johannesburg on Sunday.And at Mandela's birthplace in the rural Eastern Cape province, crowds converged on another celebration.

The United Nations has declared his birthday Nelson Mandela International Day.And South African President Jacob Zuma praised his lifetime of service:

"Sixty seven years of active contribution to a better South Africa has been recognized by the United Nations and is being celebrated as Nelson Mandela Day for the first time this year."

Partygoers applauded when Mandela's grandson and chief of the family clan stepped forward to blow out the candles on his grandfather's birthday cake.
