Hello and good Sunday to you, I'm Stacey Elgin at the cnn center in Atlanta. Here's a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

75 people have now died in a car bombing of a crowded street in Karbala, Iraq, Saturday. The AP reports several more victims passed away from their injuries after they were taken to local hospitals. Others were found on nearby rooftops. Police in the Shiite holy city are now enforcing a vehicle ban to halt in the other potential attacks.

Iran will attend the next regional meeting to find ways to stabilize Iraq. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad confirmed today that his government will attend the Iraq Security Conference this week in Egypt. A statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister's office says Mr. Ahmadinejad called Nuri al-Maliki to say Iran will participate. The conference will include Iraq's neighbors, Turkey, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria and the major powers including the US, Britain, France, China and Russia.

Turkish media report that as many as 1 million people turned out for a protest against presidential candidate Abdullah Gul. Demonstrators fear that if the Foreign Minister becomes president, he'll push an Islamic agenda. Gul says he plans to follow through with his candidacy.

In Colombia, geologists are monitoring an increase in seismic activity of a volcano in the southern part of the country. Smoke and ash surrounding Nevado del Huila has geologists concerned about a serious volcanic eruption. The same volcano erupted 10 days ago, forcing thousands to flee their homes. Authorities said the area will remain on high alert until they can guarantee the safety of local residents.

Celebrities around the world are marking the Global Day for Darfur with a vivid reminder of the costive action. Musicians and actors such as Sandy Newton have been photographed smashing hourglasses filled with fake blood to commemorate the start of the conflict 4 years ago. With the slogan, "Time is up. Protect Darfur", the campaign has also enlisted George Clooney, Elton John, Hugh Grant and others. Today, some 10 thousand hourglasses will be turned over across the globe.
