Members of the UAW, United Autoworkers Union are on the picket lines at General Motors. There hasn't been a nationwide auto strike during contract negotiations in more than 30 years. United Autoworkers Union president said in a news conference that the union is striking because General Motors has been unwilling to negotiate on major issues. GM said in a statement that it was disappointed in the decision to launch a strike and that it will continue trying to reach an agreement.
He is one of the world's most controversial leaders who happens to believe the holocaust as a myth and he has called for Israel's destruction. This hour Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad brings his message to Columbia University. Critics say the Iranian leader shouldn't be given an open mic at a prestigious American institution. School officials say regardless of what people think of Ahmadinejad, the protest and his appearance are about freedom of speech.
Iran has closed its major entry points (into), along Iraq's Kurdish region. The move is in protest of the US detention of an Iranian official. The US military says the man who was arrested Thursday is a member of Iran's elite Quds Force that has been accused of smuggling weapons into Iraq. The man is also accused of training foreign terrorists in Iraq. Iraq's president says the detainee is a civil servant who was on an official trade mission in Iraq.
Trash service is suspended in Denver. Police are looking for a missing toddler who was believed to be dead. They searched river banks yesterday but found nothing. Her mother reported the girl missing on Friday and kidnapped and now the mom and her boyfriend are in jail. He is suspected of murder; she's accused of helping him.
A Boy Scout troop, they got lost in the North Carolina Mountains, turned up safe this morning. The 8 scouts and 3 scout leaders got off the trail of hiking over the weekend. A rescuer says that the group followed a power line until they ran into a meter reader who took them to a local Fire Department.
