Hello, I’m Melissa Long here at the cnn Center in Atlanta on this Monday afternoon. Here’s a look at some of the stories happening Now In The News.

Senior US intelligence officials say Iran suspended its nuclear weapons program in 2003. But they add that the country continues to enrich uranium. The finding is a change from 2 years ago when American intelligence believed Iran was actively pursuing nuclear weapons.

President Bush is urging Congress to get down to business as it begins a short holiday session. He wants lawmakers to pass a long-stalled funding bill for the Iraq War without attaching a date for troop withdrawal.

Venezuelan voters have said “NO” to President Hugo Chavez by the narrowest margins. They defeated a referendum that would have allowed Mr. Chavez to stay in office indefinitely. The White House welcome the results. But Chavez says despite his defeat, he will continue pushing for the reforms.

President Vladimir Putin’s United Russia Party won big in Russian parliamentary elections over the weekend. It took nearly 2/3 of the vote. Putin’s term ends in 2008, but the strong showing could help him stay in power possibly as Prime Minister.

And a killer storm barrels through the heartland and now is plowing into the Northeast. Much of the region has been battered with snow, sleet and freezing rain. Parts of New England could see a foot of snow or more. And that could mean an ugly travel day in the Northeast yet again. And that same storm system created even more chaos in the nation’s midsection. Hundreds of flights were canceled over the weekend. And the Associated Press is now reporting 14 traffic deaths linked to the winter storm.

You’re up-to-date. Those are the headlines at this hour for this Monday December 3rd. Do stay with cnn for more on these stories or other news of the day.
