Well, it may be the end of the line for long-shot Republican presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo. He plans to hold a news conference in Des Moines Iowa this afternoon and is expected to announce he’s ending his bid for the White House. The Colorado Congressman made fighting illegal immigration his central campaign theme.
Officials say bomb is on the decline in Iraq, but a horrifying discovery stands as stock evidence about Al Qaeda's terror tactics. Coalition forces found what they described as a torture complex in Dadiya province northeast of Baghdad. They also found the decomposed remains of 26 bodies buried in mass graves. Officials say the complex had chains hanging from the walls and ceilings and a bed connected to an electrical system. It was located in an area thought to be an Al-Qaeda in Iraq safe haven and operating base.
Well, earlier this morning President Bush took some time to speak with the White House press call. He talks about Congress right now. He is about to sign a piece of legislation to help relieve people from taxes on full closure. Well, earlier on today Bush had actually criticized Democrats for some aspects of their work and he had applauded them for others. He applauded the passage of bills on energy and taxes, as well as a 2008 budget and the provision of war funds without a timetable for withdrawal.
But right now Rudy Giuliani is spending a day off the campaign trail. The Republican presidential candidate was treated overnight in a Missouri hospital with flu-like symptoms. Giuliani will miss fundraisers in New Jersey today, but aides say he may attend campaign events in New Hampshire on Friday.
Some odd thieves made off with two prize paintings from Brazil's renowned Sao Paul Museum of Art. One of the paintings was by famous artist Pablo Picasso, and the other by well-known Brazilian painter Portinari. Both paintings are estimated to be worth around 100 million dollars.
