President Obama speaks to members of the AFOCIO this hour in Ohio. He is expected to announce his new senior advisor for manufactory policy during his remarks. Meantime, Mr. Obama's speech to school kids tomorrow will be nothing more than a pat talk. And that is from Education Secretary Arne Duncan. The text of the speech was posted on the White House website last hour.
Job or no job? Millions of us will have a labored Labor Day, while the unemployment rate creeping towards 10%. Even who are lucky enough to have jobs worried about keeping them while those who don't have jobs struggle with the stress of being out of work. The nation's jobless rate jumped to a twenty-six-year high of 9.7% last month. And it's expected to top ten percent this year and keep climbing into next year before falling back.
Crews are working as fast as they can to fix a crack in the San Fransisco Oklan Bay Bridge by tomorrow morning. The crack was discovered in the 73-year old bridge Saturday when workers were replacing a portion of it with a new double-deck section. The damage link is two-inch's thick and was cracked tough with a through.
Some Massachusetts's beaches are closed today after two great white sharks were spotted at Cape Cod of the weekend. The sharks are rare in New Engliand. But the sharks are, as reported of, as many as five, about a mile from swimming area to red-tag, so scientists can track them. (www.hXen.com)
