[04:53.65]3.James Cook was a very skilled seaman. He was famous for making an expedition to the South Pacific Ocean.
[05:02.62]In July 1768, Cook and his sailors took an old but strong ship named Endeavor to set out for the Pacific in order to find a new continent.
[05:12.91]The ship carried a total of 94 people, including scientists.
[05:17.56]It was really a very hard journey for them. During the expedition, 38 people died of diseases.
[05:24.76]It April 1769 they arrived at the beautiful island of Tahiti in the Pacific Ocean.
[05:30.77]And then they set sail again and headed south and west in search of a new land.
[05:35.41]They finally reached New Zealand. After that they sailed west to Australia and map the east coast of Australia.
