Lucinda: Maggie and Gerry are moving in together. They want to start a family.露辛达：玛吉和格里搬到一起住了，他们打算建立一个家庭。Thomas：I don’t approve of that. They’re not married and it’s a disgrace. Shame on them!托马斯：我不同意这样的做法。他们未婚就同居是不道德的行为。真替他们丢人！Lucinda: I understand your objections, but they love each other and need our support, not our condemnation.露辛达：我理解你为何反对，但是她们彼此相爱，他们需要的是我们的支持而不是谴责。

Thomas：If I were their parents, I’d give them an earful. Someone should take them to task for making such irresponsible decisions.
托马斯：我要是他们的父母，我会好好教训他们一顿。作出如此不负责任的决定应该受到责备。

Lucinda: They know what they’re doing and it’s not our place to criticize their decision.
露辛达：他们知道自己在做什么，就算要责备也轮不到我们。

Thomas：But I don’t have to like it. I’m not sending them a housewarming gift, that’s for sure.
托马斯：但我真的不认可这样的做法。我不会送乔迁贺礼的，就这么定了。

Lucinda: Too late. I sent one and signed both our names.
露辛达：太晚了，我已经送了一份贺礼过去了，落款是咱俩的名字。

Thomas：You did what?! How will they know I disapprove of what they’re doing when you go behind my back and do that?
托马斯：你说什么？！你背着我偷送贺礼，那他们岂不是不知道我反对他们未婚同居？

Lucinda: I think your reproach will come through loud and clear.
露辛达：我觉得你的责备已经传达地一清二楚了。
