NBC新闻:蒙哥马利遭冠状病毒重创
In Montgomery Alabama, a heated debate over requiring mask in a city hit hard by the coronavirus. I've been against all mask thing. I have a duty to wear a mask in public. As the cases in Alabama have surged Montgomery county has suffered most. Especially African-americans who make up nearly 72 percent of all coronavirus cases and more than 60 percent of the deaths. Dr. Nina Nelson Garrett says many ICUs are at capacity. This has been horrific because in spite of everything that my colleagues are doing nothing is working. William Boyd already lost five family members now his brother has the virus and is fighting for his life. What is your message to people who still might not wear a mask despite the ordinance? Coronavirus is real.
I don't wait till death knock at your door. Mask up, practice social distance, wash your hand. This stuff is attacking our community. Boyd joined doctors pleading with the city council this week to make wearing a mask mandatory. But council voted it down. To make somebody do something or require somebody to wear something is overage. But the mayor overruled it and starting today residents must wear masks in public places with more than ten people or face a $25 fine. Many people believe that because they don't know someone that's been impacted or because the economy has open back up that we've won the battle when in fact we have not. The inequalities COVID has brought to light cannot be fixed in a day. But officials say what you wear could save lives.
