Part 5 Reasons for Application

Dialogue Script 1

Watson: What made you choose this company?
Tom: Your company has earned a very good reputation, not only because your products are of high quality, but also your well-constructed management system. I want to contribute my effort to such an outstanding company which cares not only the customer' needs, but also welfare of the employees.
Watson: What do you know about this company?
Tom: I know this is one of the biggest trading companies in the word. It was established in London in 1940, with a total of 40 million US dollars. It employs more than 17,000 staff throughout the word.
Watson: Why do you consider yourself qualified for the job?
Tom: I have the educational background and relevant experience required by the position. Besides, I am a very good team player and have the desire to make a thorough success.
Watson: What interest you most about this job?
Tom: I like to work in a team and enjoy solving problems together.

1. What made you choose this company? make someone do something,让某人做某事。

earn a good reputation,赢得好名声。

What do you know about this company?

4. Why do you consider yourself qualified for the job? 这里Tom说的是the educational background and relevant experience,相关教育背景和工作经验,I am a very good team player and have the desire to make a thorough success.

5. What interest you most about this job?

Dialogue Script 2

Watson: What's your career objective?
Peter: I hope I could be a leader of an energetic and productive sales team.
Watson: What do you consider important when looking for a job?
Peter: I think the most important thing is the nature of the job. One should never do anything one is not interested in. To me, pleasant working conditions with co-operative staff are also important.
Watson: Why are you interested in working in this company?
Tom: My past experience is closely related to this job. I am confident of doing the job well.
Watson: What do you think you would bring to the job?
Tom: My business experience in China, mainly. I know a lot about how the Chinese market works and how business is done there.

1.What's your career objective?

2. What do you consider important when looking for a job?

3. Why are you interested in working in this company?

4. What do you think you would bring to the job?

Part 6 Your Ability

Dialogue Script 1

Watson: What is your greatest strength?
Ben: I think I am very good at planning. I manage my time perfectly so that I can always get things done on time.
Watson: What are your weak points?
Ben: When I think something is right, I will stick to that. Sometimes it sounds a little stubborn but I am now trying to find a balance between insistence and compromise.
Watson: What are your greatest accomplishment?
Ben: Although I feel my greatest accomplishments are still ahead of me, I am proud of my involvement with the International Business Conference '93 project. I made my contribution as part of that team and learned a lot in the process.
Watson: Can you work under pressure?
Ben: Yes, I find it stimulating. However, I believe in planning and proper management of my time reduce panic deadlines.

1. What is your greatest strength?

What are your weak points?

What are your greatest accomplishment? I feel my greatest accomplishments are still ahead of me.

4. Can you work under pressure?

Dialogue Script 2

Snow: What are your strong points?
Tom: I have very strong observation power. I can generate interesting ideas from minor things and once the idea is fomp3ed, I have strong urge to put it into action.
Snow: What is your weakness?
Tom I always give each job my best efforts, so when others are not pulling their weight, I would be frustrated.
Snow: Are you more of a follower or a leader?
Tom: l don't try to go ahead of people and lead them. I'd rather cooperate with everybody else, and get the job done by working together.
Snow: How do you deal with those who you think are difficult to deal with?
Tom: I stick to my principles and keep the rules. Sometimes, they are just lack of enthusiasm and I got them involved with something constructive. Some of them had changed their attitude later.

Part 7 The End of the Interview

Dialogue Script 1

Watt: Since there are other applicants on the line, we can't let you know our decision yet until all of them have got their chance for interview.
Ann: Fair enough, I am willing to wait until you have come to a decision.
Watt: We will let you know probably next Tuesday. I hope to give you the positive reply.
Ann: Thank you, I will be glad to hear that.

come to a decision,得出结论,有结果,相当于make a decision.

Dialogue Script 2

Watt: How long have you been here?
Jenny: About three months.
Watt: Have you worked as a receptionist ?
Jenny: No, but I think I am a fast learner.
Watt: Well, your English is very good. I have noticed that. But the problem is my receptionist must have local knowledge as well. People call us up not just to order meals. They often ask questions about travel, entertainment, etc. so I have to say I can't offer you the job.
Jenny: That's all right. Thank you for your time. Good-bye.
Watt: Bye.

3. I have to say I can't offer you the job. 这时候要表现的很大度,thank you for your time,谢谢您花费时间来面试我。
