Netflix Plans More Movies, TV from Asia
Netfix娱乐公司计划在亚洲制作17部原创电影和电视节目,以争取更多的国际订阅用户。
Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos announced the plan this week at a gathering called "See What's Next: Asia" in Singapore.

It marked Netflix's first content showcase in Asia.

Sarandos said, "The beauty of Netflix is that we can take never-seen before stories from South Korea, Thailand, Japan, India, Taiwan or elsewhere, and easily connect them to people all over Asia and the world."
Sarandos表示:“Netflix的魅力在于我们从韩国、泰国、日本、印度、中国台湾等地区获得一些前所未闻的故事,并轻松地将它们同亚洲和世界各地的人们连接起来。”
Netflix said in a statement it aims to increase "its investment in Asian storytellers, amplifying their voices to the world."

Netflix has won over young middle-class Asians with programs such as the movie series "Baahubali" and "Sacred Games" from India, "Devilman Crybaby" from Japan, and "Busted!" from South Korea.
Netflix凭借来自印度的系列电影“巴霍巴利王(Baahubali)”和“神圣游戏(Sacred Games)”、日本的“恶魔人(Devilman Crybaby)”,以及韩国的“明星来解谜(Busted!)等节目,赢得了一众年轻亚洲中产阶级的青睐。
The streaming service has recently added more subscribers than expected. Most of the new subscribers have come from outside the United States.

At the end of September, the service had 137 million subscribers worldwide. Netflix Chief Reed Hastings has said India alone could bring in the service's next 100 million subscribers.
