这两个词都有“起来”、“上升”之意，但用法有所不同。

Rise的使用范围较广，作为庄严的用语时，大都用作比喻的意味，常见于诗歌和古语，现代英语已很少使用（如 to rise in the world、to rise to greatness、to rise in life）。在现代英语中，rise大都用以指太阳、月亮、水蒸汽、云彩、产量、生活水平等等的上升或人的起立和起床。例：
