The Sichuan native's win came without any suspense. She was the most versatile contestant, perfectly combining her superb singing skills with stunning dancing talent, a quality not possessed by other contestants on this year's "Super Girl" stage.
Second prize went to Li Xiaoyun, 22, whose self-composed ballads earned her the nickname Prince of Ballads on the Internet, partly because of her boyish appearance and costumes.
Winding up the top three was Huang Ying, also a Sichuan native. Hailing from a very poor family and working as a migrant worker far from home before the contest, Huang, 20, gained wide popularity among netizens who appreciated her unique voice and persistent spirit.
The four-hour final also featured the performances of Taiwanese veteran singer Tsai Chin and Li Yuchun, champion of the second "Super Girl" contest in 2005.
"Super Girl" is an annual national singing contest developed by Hunan Satellite Television in 2004. It is generally regarded as the Chinese version of "American Idol" and has become one of the most popular entertainment shows in China.
