娱乐英语新闻:Peruvian Golden Bear winner gets L.A. screening in hope of Oscar nomination
Mara Seminario, manager of the state-run PromPeru company, said on Wednesday that at the Jan. 7-11 Palm Springs Festival, Peru is campaigning for "La Teta Asustada" to be nominated for the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film.
Directed by Claudia Llosa, "La Teta Asustada" won the top award, the Golden Bear, at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival.
The movie depicts how a war of terror can damage the life of a girl who has contracted the mysterious disease "teta asustada." The disease is borne in the breast-milk of women who were raped in the terrorism war in Peru.
This year's Oscar nomination is scheduled for Feb. 2, while the Oscar ceremony is slated for March 7.
