娱乐英语新闻:Myanmar official media calls for producing world standard film

YANGON, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- A Myanmar official daily Tuesday called on artists in the country to produce good Myanmar films of international standard to make sure that international film market can be penetrated.

To produce high quality films and videos, emergence of new generation technicians who are well versed in film and video production is essential, the New Light of Myanmar stressed in its editorial.

"In portraying our country and people, it is necessary to reflect them in such a way that dignity of the nation and the people come to be admired and respected by others," the editorial also emphasized.

The editorial pointed out that "improvement of Myanmar film industry depends not on any individual but on unity, understanding, diligence, perseverance and cooperation of all those in the film world such as performers, directors, script writers, editors, photographers and others".

In February last year, Myanmar presented six film academy awards for 2007 scrutinized out of 10 movies produced during that year.

Since 1952, a total of 290 domestic academy awards have been presented to successful artists annually.
