娱乐英语新闻:"Robin Hood" to open Cannes film festival
BEIJING, March 30 -- “Robin Hood,” starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett and directed by Ridley Scott, will open the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Crowe’s role as Robin Hood follows several portrayals of the archer who robbed the rich to give to the poor by Hollywood stars, including Errol Flynn, Douglas Fairbanks, Sean Connery and Kevin Costner.
The latest movie version, which also stars Max Von Sydow, Lea Seydoux and William Hurt, will not be judged during the May festival, its organizers said in a statement.
The movie was produced by Universal Studios and the screenplay written by Brian Helgeland, who also wrote “L.A Confidential” and “Mystic River.”
Scott has directed Crowe before in the 2000 Roman imperial film “Gladiator.”
