娱乐英语新闻:Actor Kal Penn robbed at gunpoint

BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Actor Kal Penn has been robbed at gunpoint in Washington D.C. his former publicist has confirmed.

The actor who played Kumar in the movie "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" and had a recurring role on the Fox show "House" was forced to lie on the ground and give up his cell phone and other possessions according to a police crime summary, though it did not give names of those involved.

Penn did not respond to requests for comment but is not believed to have been injured.

The Metropolitan Police Department said it could not release information, however a D.C. police official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said it was "a basic street robbery."

The incident occured early Tuesday morning, April 20.
