LOS ANGELES, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Former reality show "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman made a rare and surprise appearance in a Los Angeles courtroom Friday, testifying that he and his slain wife Monica Beresford-Redman signed a bill prior to their 2008 trip to Australia.

The award-winning producer, who was wanted by the Mexican authorities as the prime suspect in Monica's April 5 murder in tourist resort in Cancun, said both he and Monica signed the 2008 will before they traveled to Australia, but they signed it at different times and he didn't see his wife actually sign.

"Monica wrote that will herself,"Bruce said, adding that the couple were "concerned something would happen to her."

A van leaves the coroner's office, where the body of Monica Beresford-Redman is being held, in Cancun April 8, 2010. Mexican police arrested Monica's husband Bruce Beresford-Redman, a former producer of the U.S. TV series "Survivor," on Thursday and said he was the prime suspect in the murder of his wife, found strangled in the Mexican resort of Cancun. The bruised body of Monica was found dumped in mangroves near a luxury Caribbean beach hotel after going missing on Monday

The couple wanted to amend the will after the birth of their children, now aged 5 and 3, Beresford-Redman told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff. Monica owned a night club and a Brazilian restaurant in west Los Angeles.

However, Monica's two sisters, Jeane and Carla Burgos, challenged the validity of the document, claiming that a 2004 will is still valid.

Beckloff scheduled another hearing for June 29.
