LOS ANGELES, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against his son's personal physician Conrad Murray on Friday, the anniversary of the King of Pop's sudden death in a Los Angeles court.

The estranged father of the pop icon claimed that Murray " began a course of medication treatments for Michael Jackson which was below the standard of care and ultimately resulted in Jackson' s over-medication and death on June 25, 2009.'' Joe Jackson did not name AEG, the entertainment company of the singer's comeback tour in the lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court. However, the patriarch of the Jackson family, is reportedly wanting to hold the firm partially liable for his son's death, because it was paying Murray to take care of the star.

Conrad Murray, the late Michael Jackson's personal physician, sits in court during his arraignment at the Los Angeles Superior Court Airport Branch Courthouse February 8, 2010.

Murray withheld information from paramedics that may have helped them revive the unconscious 50-year-old singer, who used propofol to help himself to go to sleep, Joe claims. He also alleges Murray tried to clean up or hide evidence relevant to the death.

Jackson died at the age of 50 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his rented Holmby Hills mansion on June 25 when he was preparing for his comeback London concerts. He was pronounced dead at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Murray had administered potent propofol and other sedatives to the singer shortly before his death

The Los Angeles County coroner's office determined the cause of death to be "acute propofol intoxication." Murray is charged in February with involuntary manslaughter. If convicted, he faces a potential prison term of four years.
