BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Beauty queen Carrie Prejean, 23, got married to NFL star Kyle Boller in a lavish 25-minute ceremony last Friday, according to US media reports.
The controversial ex-Miss California had been dating her new husband, the Oakland Raiders quarterback, for a year. They got engaged in February.
The ceremony was held at the Grand Del Mar Hotel in Prejean's native San Diego.
Prejean wore a one-shoulder mermaid-style gown and was whisked away at the end of the ceremony with her 29-year-old groom in a White Rolls Royce Phantom, according to E! Online reports.
Donald Trump, the owner of the Miss Universe Organization, gives Miss California USA, Carrie Prejean, her sash during a news conference announcing that Prejean would retain her title in New York in this May 12, 2009 file photo. Pageant officials fired Prejean June 10, 2009, citing "breach of contract issues." |
"It was beautiful," an anonymous witness commented. "They had cocktails on the lawn right after. Everyone seemed really happy."
The bride made headlines last year after making controversial remarks during the Miss USA pageant that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Prejean eventually surrendered her crown after pageant officials accused her of missing events, an allegation she denied.
