娱乐英语新闻:Robert Shapiro to defend Lindsay Lohan

BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Renowned U.S. defense attorney Robert Shapiro is to represent troubled Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan, according to media Wednesday.

Shapiro was among a team of lawyers who successfully defended O.J. Simpson from the charges that he murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown in 1994.

Instead of appealing Lohan’s 90-day jail sentence, Shapiro is reportedly to put his client in a rehab facility and remove, or reduce her jail term.

Shapiro had a son who died of overdose in 2005, thus he has a lot of experience dealing with rehab facilities. He also established a foundation to help people deal with drinking and drug problems.

Last week Lindsay Lohan, 24, was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation in a pair of drunk driving cases.
