娱乐英语新闻:Gibson talks to detectives about extortion claims
BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Mel Gibson was interviewed by detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on Sunday, concerning extortion claims by his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva's extortion.
Gibson is under investigation for alleged domestic violence. He claims his Russian babymama Grigorieva tried to shake him down over a series of damaging phone recordings, according to Daily News reports.
"We did talk to Mel Gibson on Sunday. It had nothing to do with the domestic violence investigation. It only concerned the allegations of extortion," Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Daily News on Tuesday.

“He wanted to make formal complaint for the allegations for extortion and provide information to the detectives,” said Steve Whitmore. “Detectives will investigate this wherever it leads,” he added.
The sheriff's department is also investigating claims by Grigorieva that Gibson abused her during a January confrontation.
The former couple, which split earlier this year, has become embroiled in a bitter battle over recent weeks as they attempt to thrash out custody arrangements for their young daughter, Lucia.
