LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The drama about the founding of the popular cyber social website Facebook has fared fairly well two weeks into the screening and kept its title as the king of the domestic box office with lucrative gains, owing to its close relationship to numerous web users who rely on the portal to make friends.

"The Social Network," a much-hyped Sony film is projected to sell 15.5 million dollars worth of movie tickets in Canada and the U.S., the North America box office authority said, enough to retain its first-place position. The decline is 31 percent, the lowest of any No. film debuted this year. The film has taken in a total of 46.1 million dollars in ten days.

Of the ten most popular movies this week, three were films that debuted over the weekend.

"Life As We Know It," a romantic comedy from Warner Bros., opened in second place with an estimated 14.6 million dollars in sales. It debuted on approximately 3,600 screens at 3,150 locations. Exit polling showed that 68 percent of the audience was female and 70 percent was aged 25 years and older.

And unlike its titular horse's normal finish, "Secretariat" trotted across the finish line in third place, with a 12.6 million dollars show for Disney on its opening weekend. Fifty-eight percent of the audience was aged 35 years and older, 55 percent of the audience was female, and 67 percent was "couples," according to distributor Walt Disney Pictures' exit poll.
