娱乐英语新闻:James Franco, Anne Hathaway to host Oscar ceremony

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Actor James Franco, who played the lead role in "127 Hours" and is regarded as an Oscar nomination hopeful, and actress Anne Hathaway have been chosen to host the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Monday.

"James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons-- fresh, exciting and multi-talented," Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer said in a joint statement. "We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27.

"We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that."

Actor James Franco and actress Anne Hathaway have been chosen to host the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony.

Thirty-two-years-old Franco has earned positive reviews from the critics and audiences for his portrayal of Aron Ralston in British director Danny Boyle's "127 Hours." As an American mountaineer, Ralston had to amputate his arm to free himself after he was trapped beneath a boulder during an outdoor routine in Utah.

Franco acted as Harry Osborn in the "Spider-Man" trilogy. His also appeared at "Eat, Pray, Love," "Date Night," "Milk" and " Pineapple Express."

This will be Franco's second appearance on an Oscar telecast.

A past Oscar nominee for her lead performance in "Rachel Getting Married" in 2008, Hathaway, 28, will be making her fifth appearance on an Academy Awards telecast.

The actress' most recent film is comedy "Love and Other Drugs," in which she played a patient who developed a relationship with a traveling pharmaceutical salesman (Jake Gyllenhaal). She also starred in hits such as "Alice in Wonderland," "Bride Wars," " Becoming Jane," "The Devil Wears Prada," "The Princess Diaries" and "Brokeback Mountain."

The Academy Awards ceremony will be held on Feb. 27, 2011 at the Kodak Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. The event will be televised live in more than 200 countries.
