娱乐英语新闻:"The King's Speech" wins Producers Guild of America Awards

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The period drama "The King's Speech" has won the 22nd annual Producers Guild of America Awards Saturday night, a victory indicative of which film will be named best picture at the Academy Awards.

The film, which tells how the British King George VI overcame his nervous stammer to rule the country, was awarded the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, one of the most important award presented at the annual event. The flick is produced by a trio of Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Gareth Unwin.

"The Social Network," the 68th Golden Globe winner and one of the most promising favorite for an Oscar award, was upset along with "The Kids Are All Right."

Producing team of other nominees including "True Grit," "The Fighter," "127 Hours," "Black Swan," "Inception," "The Town" and "Toy Story 3" walked away empty-handed from the ceremony which was held at the Beverly Hilton and hosted by writer/producer/director Judd Apatow.

However, Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures went to Darla K. Anderson, producer of "Toy Story 3."
