Wen and the leaders of the Portuguese-speaking countries attended the opening ceremony of the third Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries on Saturday.

Sponsored by China's Ministry of Commerce and hosted by the government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the forum was created in Macao in 2003, with the joint participation of seven Portuguese-speaking countries, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and Timor-Leste.

The two sides' trade volumes have taken off since the creation of the Forum in 2003. The latest official figures from the Chinese government indicated that the trade volume between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries surged by 57 percent year-on-year to 68.2 billion U.S. dollars in the first three quarters of 2010.
